How you can help the Yemen Crisis from home.

What is happening in Yemen?   Yemen is currently facing the world’s worse humanitarian crisis to date. The country has been devastated by a civil war, famine and a cholera epidemic. On top of this, the recent Coronavirus pandemic will likely make things considerably worse.  Save the Children estimates that 85,000 children with severe acute malnutrition might have died between April 2015 and October 2018. Today, an estimated 2 million children are acutely malnourished. Thousands of civillians will have likely died not from war but from preventable causes such as famine, disease and poor health instead. Regardless of your political opinions on the civil conflict, to see footage of children dying in Yemen is heart wrenching to say the least.     I researched the few ways I could help Yemen from my own home.    How can we help? Why the arrest of Derek Chauvin will never be enough

The American police are being weaponised against innocent black people.       His murder George Floyd was brutally murdered on the streets on Minneapolis on just an ordinary Monday.  Officer Derek Chauvin knelt on George’s neck for a total of nine minutes, he decided to persistently kneel on George’s neck despite several distressed cries of ā€˜I can’t breathe’. Causing George to die at the scene. George’s suspected crimes were not at all heinous, he was arrested simply because someone had suspected him of using a counterfeit bill in a grocery store. Shortly after, the footage of George’s death circulated all over the internet and infiltrated platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. National outrage soon followed after the incident, consequently the four police officers have were removed from their positions. The Mayor of Minneapolis Jacob Frey has since called for Chauvin’s arrest and also stated ā€˜He [George]  would still be alive today if he was a white...

I decided to take a five day social media detox... Here's what happened

Social media is a beautiful thing, It keep us connected. Shows us beautiful images, inspires us to be more creative and even shows us news stories that are yet to be uncovered my the mainstream media. The fact that so many people all over the world are given their very own platform to share and inspire their stories is a good thing. However in a quarantine enviroment, I found myself feeling unispired. I was tired of the endless scrolling, yet I just couldn't stop. The days speeded past me as I continuously rotated through Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Tik Tok and Facebook. I sort of knew I was wasting my days and I felt engulfed in an never ending depletion. After some shallow research, I found that my feelings were not uncommon.  According to a study highlighted in the Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology in 2018, people who decreased their regular use of social media, limiting it to 30 minutes a day (10 minutes each on Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram), reported reduced lev...

My favourite podcasts

Is podcast the new radio? It very well maybe. The perfect way to pass the time, I love podcasts. At work, on the commute or just chilling.  Here are a few I personally reccomend.   The Reggie Yates Podcast  Listening to the RYP is like being in a room with your mates. Hosted with his friends Baba, Owen and Uzoo, the banter is just ever flowing, I can't even listen to this at work, as i've giggled to myself a few too many to times. They discuss everything from music to relationships. They often have some amazing guests on too, many from the creative London scene.  Adulting - Oenone Spanning more topics I can count, The Adulting podcast has an amazing range  of guests. The host Oenone welcomes many differing voices to her podcast, and provides a space of authenticity and exploration. Each episode is refreshing and I feel like I am always learning about something new.  Dellicously Ella There are so many wellness podca...

Brent Fayaiz said F**k the World - album review

The voice of Brent Fayiaz captured me instantly, immediatly I was transcended into a different space and mind. His velvet vocals gripped me it's soft warm grasp. Like a drug I was hooked, I searched endlessly for all his tracks on spotify. Whether he was singing as apart of the band Sonder or on his debut album Sonder Son. I was transfixed, his lyrics captivated me. When I heard about his new album release, to say I was 'excited' would be a complete understatement. I just cannot get enough of the Fayiaz. I was shocked to find that 'F**k The World' was a whole different vibe from the previous Brent I had known.  I bumped his new at  album at my desk job, I didn't know what to expect. It was a dreary monday afternoon, I needed to feel something. So, I decided to test this out. The first track which hit me was 'Let me Know', and immediatly I was met with the realness I had been craving. 'How can I love when they tell me I can't love mys...
