Music Moodboard: March

Excuse my dodgy graphic design skills, or lack thereof shall we say. But I would love to share with you some of the music I've been vibing to this month. We have got a mix of all sorts, from the smooth sounds of Stevie Wonder to the groovy disco beats of Tom Misch. Inspired by my Spotify 'On Repeat' playlist, here are my latest bops.

Track list:

  1. Third World - Now that we found love
  2. Phony Ppl ft Megan Stalion - Fkn Around
  3. Kaytranada - His new album has just got endless hits. If I had to whittle it down my top three favourites would be: '10%', 'Vex Oh' and 'Worst In Me'
  4. Lou Phelps - What Time Is It?
  5. Rex Orange County - 'Loving Is Easy'
  6. Snoh Aalegra - I love her old albums and I think I'm loving her new one even more! The track 'I Want You Around' has just been on repeat.
  7. Blood Orange - If I had to choose a soundtrack for my life, It would 100% be made by Blood Orange. I've been jumping through his old stuff as well as his new. My top tracks are: 'Charcoal Baby' and 'You Were Never Good Enough'
  8. Pomo - Intoxicated
  9. Brent Fayiaz - Let Me Know
  10. Tom Misch - Disco, Yes
  11. Children of Zeus - Hard Work, I can feel the reggae revival in this track.
  12. Tesky Brothers - I love the whole album so it is very hard to pick a favourite. Currently have 'Say You'll Do' , 'Pain and Misery' and 'So Caught Up' on repeat. If whiskey on the rocks was an album this would be it.
  13. I love Stevie Wonder, so I feel like I'm listening to him constantly. 'Rocket Love' and 'Higher Ground' gets played everyday, without fail.

I'll be back again in April to throw out some more supersonic sound reccomendations. Let me know what you are listening to in the comments below.  :)

I decided to take a five day social media detox... Here's what happened

Social media is a beautiful thing, It keep us connected. Shows us beautiful images, inspires us to be more creative and even shows us news stories that are yet to be uncovered my the mainstream media. The fact that so many people all over the world are given their very own platform to share and inspire their stories is a good thing. However in a quarantine enviroment, I found myself feeling unispired. I was tired of the endless scrolling, yet I just couldn't stop. The days speeded past me as I continuously rotated through Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Tik Tok and Facebook. I sort of knew I was wasting my days and I felt engulfed in an never ending depletion. After some shallow research, I found that my feelings were not uncommon.  According to a study highlighted in the Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology in 2018, people who decreased their regular use of social media, limiting it to 30 minutes a day (10 minutes each on Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram), reported reduced lev...

My favourite podcasts

Is podcast the new radio? It very well maybe. The perfect way to pass the time, I love podcasts. At work, on the commute or just chilling.  Here are a few I personally reccomend.   The Reggie Yates Podcast  Listening to the RYP is like being in a room with your mates. Hosted with his friends Baba, Owen and Uzoo, the banter is just ever flowing, I can't even listen to this at work, as i've giggled to myself a few too many to times. They discuss everything from music to relationships. They often have some amazing guests on too, many from the creative London scene.  Adulting - Oenone Spanning more topics I can count, The Adulting podcast has an amazing range  of guests. The host Oenone welcomes many differing voices to her podcast, and provides a space of authenticity and exploration. Each episode is refreshing and I feel like I am always learning about something new.  Dellicously Ella There are so many wellness podca...

Why the arrest of Derek Chauvin will never be enough

The American police are being weaponised against innocent black people.       His murder George Floyd was brutally murdered on the streets on Minneapolis on just an ordinary Monday.  Officer Derek Chauvin knelt on George’s neck for a total of nine minutes, he decided to persistently kneel on George’s neck despite several distressed cries of ‘I can’t breathe’. Causing George to die at the scene. George’s suspected crimes were not at all heinous, he was arrested simply because someone had suspected him of using a counterfeit bill in a grocery store. Shortly after, the footage of George’s death circulated all over the internet and infiltrated platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. National outrage soon followed after the incident, consequently the four police officers have were removed from their positions. The Mayor of Minneapolis Jacob Frey has since called for Chauvin’s arrest and also stated ‘He [George]  would still be alive today if he was a white...
